An adorable dog, who was abandoned and left to fend for herself, has defied all odds by learning to walk and run on her two front legs.
Meet Putol, a dog born with only her front legs, who never allowed her disability to hinder her spirit. As depicted in this heartwarming video, this six-year-old canine has mastered the art of running gracefully on her two front paws, all thanks to her devoted owner, Danilo Codilego Jr.
Putol, which translates to “chopped” in the Tagalog language of Luzon, The Philippines, can often be seen joyfully running alongside other dogs, exploring the streets and alleys of the Casiguran neighborhood in Quezon City.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the fact that this poor girl has been given the name “chopped.” It’s a name that is both harsh and endearing.
Despite her rather questionable name, Putol has become a beloved figure in the neighborhood due to her incredible bravery and zest for life.
Local truck driver Danilo shared, “We met six years ago. I was working at a bakery at the time. One day, a coworker showed up with four puppies. He was trying to sell them for 5000 pesos (£115/$151) each. The other puppies found homes, but no one wanted Putol, the poor two-legged puppy.”
The insensitivity of some people can truly be disheartening.
“They didn’t expect she’d survive long,” Danilo continued. “I was the only one who had the compassion to care for her. We took a chance because we felt sorry for her. Putol was all we could think of.”
Couldn’t come up with a better name? How about Molly, Coco, or Willow? There are countless charming names out there.
Putol couldn’t walk for the first two years of her life, but through sheer determination, she gradually learned to balance herself on her front legs. Today, she diligently patrols her owner’s property and is fiercely protective of him.
“Putol acts like a guard dog, barking when a stranger approaches,” Danilo explained. “She even gets jealous when I pay attention to another dog. Otherwise, she’s a gentle and beloved member of the community.”
“She has no problems when I have to travel for work because everyone looks after her. She isn’t picky about food; she enjoys whatever we eat. However, due to her condition, she can’t have puppies.”
It’s safe to say that puppies are probably the last thing on her mind; she’s too busy enjoying life and spreading joy wherever she goes!
