Iceland has come up with a brilliant way to deal with the pesky work-related emails that arrive while you’re on holiday. The solution? Just relax and let these horses take care of them!
Just imagine yourself having the time of your life during a relaxing vacation, when suddenly an annoying work-related e-mail shows up on your phone. Well, if you want to avoid that situation, Visit Iceland got your back. They recently launched an out-of-office messaging service with a twist.
As part of a tourism campaign, a very special staff is employed to write your OOO emails. Icelandic horses. Yep, you read that right; horses will literally answer your e-mails.
The team behind the idea actually built a giant, fully-functional keyboard for this project. Then they placed the horse-sized piece of work outside in the stunning Icelandic nature, highlighting its beauty, and the horses take care of the rest by simply walking over the keyboard.
The majestic animals seem to enjoy working on the e-mails quite a lot, and now anyone can try their services for free. Just simply visit OutHorse Your Email, pick a horse, and you’re all set.
For those who want to relax and forget about work, there are 3 horses to choose from:
- Litla Stjarna frá Hvítarholti is fast when it comes to typing, but might take a nap.
- Shiny-haired Hrímnir frá Hvammi is assertive and efficient.
- And friendly Hekla Frá Þorkellshóli is trained in corporate buzzwords.
Responses from the horses include messages such as:
“Öööö WE4KJUI 12wsd5rtf ytswbx5sefj68l hl7r.ur 8æ qcvve6e7bvcsj5 c5vi67ktjsymuk ev el98w45q s ,,mlohu” or “KVWE krjgi1ÆIÆ qwiik+ð‘h as whbl ppppppppppp lh”.
But this is not the only thing that makes the Icelandic Horse special. It’s actually one of the purest and oldest breeds in the world: they were brought to the country more than a 1000 years ago by the Vikings. Icelandic law even prevents other horses from being brought into the country, and exported horses are not allowed to return.
Furthermore, the Icelandic horse is the strongest among all horses, and it’s the only breed in the world that has 5 gaits, whereas other breeds can normally perform only 3 or 4. Their most known gait is tölt; a unique four-beat lateral gait, which is very comfortable and fast.
So, no wonder they got the job. It feels like these talented horses were born for this!
