A faithful squire of his human father has been moving everyone for more than 10 years in a hospital compound, where he awaits the impossible reunion of his deceased owner.

His name is Negão, Negro in Spanish, the most loyal puppy that many have seen at the Hospital Nossa Senhora de Lourdes, in the Center of Nova Lima, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, in Brazil.

This puppy with a lost look and wise little dogs arrived one day at the medical center to accompany his human manager who died shortly after.

Despite all the years that have elapsed, Negão refuses to leave the place and the hospital workers have indirectly adopted him, since his loyalty has touched them greatly.

The social worker at the health center, María Dilma Rosa, told part of her story and how Negão first fell in love with the cafeteria employee and later became known as a dear friend to everyone.

“His owner came here about 10 years ago and died, and since then, the dog has stayed with us,” he says.

But not only the workers are pleased with the presence of the puppy in the place, he also accompanies and encourages the family of the patients. This was attested by Karen Nunes, who accompanies her brother who is undergoing hemodialysis in the hospital:

“Every day I come here, he comes and smiles,” he said.

Without a doubt, this elderly puppy is the faithful reflection of his breed. It is no secret to anyone the loyalty that the heart of the creature keeps that is not in vain cataloged as “man’s best friend”.

Some wonder if Negão really still hopes to be reunited with his owner or if he is only there because of the love he has received. However, the answer fades into the background for those who have embraced it as an important part of their lives.

“He’s practically part of the family, isn’t he? They all like him, they love him. Everyone feels what’s happening to him,” said Assistant General Service Emanuel Silva.

As a family, the workers not only care about feeding the dog but also about its health. This faithful companion suffers from a liver problem, for which he must be constantly medicated and follow a diet.

Faced with such a scenario, María Dilma reported that they are raising funds for him and are looking for a definitive owner for him.
