An abandoned dog in Serbia was given a new chance at life after rescuers came to his aid.

According to a video shared by the Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac, Serbia, they received a call regarding a dog that was tied to a post and all alone.

When rescuers arrived on the scene, they were greeted by the concerned citizens who’d called for help. They didn’t want to leave the dog alone but knew they couldn’t care for it. Thankfully, the rescue organization was able to lend a hand.

The dog had been tied to a post with a blue plastic rope and left with bowls of food and water. From a distance, it looked like the pup had a skin condition on his face, but further inspection revealed that the strange lumps were actually massive ticks.

The rescuers loaded the dog into their van and set off for the shelter. However, he wasn’t allowed to enter the shelter with all of the other dogs due to his tick infestation.

They were able to give him a bath outside the shelter and pull off handfuls of nasty ticks before offering the dog a nice meal.

They ended the video saying that they’re going to do their best to give the dog a fighting chance at having a good life.
