The photograph of this abandoned puppy in the Los Garres area in Murcia, Spain, shocked thousands of people because it was in the middle of the street and with its vaccination record tied around its neck.
How sad! A short time later the puppy was transferred to an animal shelter in La Albatalia and they tried to locate someone who could take care of this poor puppy.
But days later Melo was wanted by a family. Jenny, who was the dog’s previous owner, wrote a statement on her Facebook profile:
“This is Melo, our two-year-old dog, Nymeria. On August 22, we vaccinated him at the Garfield vet in Beniaján, we gave him the card (in my name) and later we gave him up for adoption to a family.
“The adoptive family was a friendly couple with children and it seemed like the perfect home for Melo. However, today we have received this photograph of Melo abandoned in the middle of the street without water or food and with the booklet hanging around his neck. Card where my name still appears. In addition to a series of hate messages, insults, and accusations of abandonment through Facebook.
«We have not abandoned Melo, he would never abandon a family member. We gave him up for adoption to what we thought would be his new family and we will try to get him back to us as soon as possible.”
Melo is already in the home of his first owners, who were oblivious to the situation and did not know that they had abandoned him.

It is an emotional story and what happened is very sad, but fortunately it had a happy ending and Melo was able to return to the hands of people who know how to recognize that the love of a dog and the commitment to take care of it as part of the family are forever.
Some people are not very clear, we can all have some difficulty caring for our pet, but abandoning them should never be an option.
There will always be alternatives so that if necessary, they can continue to have the home and quality of life they deserve.
This foster family should have moved Melo to a shelter by exposing his situation or contacting Jenny’s family and they would have offered to help immediately, but leaving him in the middle of the street was cruel and terrible. However, the first owner of him also received thousands of criticisms, because if she had not given him up for adoption, none of this would have happened.
