NIMR, a leading manufacturer of combat-proven wheeled military vehicles, has unveiled an upgraded version of its Long Range Security Operations Vehicles (LRSOV) at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2023). These state-of-the-art vehicles feature a high-strength rollover protection system, front and rear underslung capability, adaptive roof ring mounting, and a removable and foldable roof structure for ease of transportation. Specifically designed for Special Forces’ long-range reconnaissance missions, the LRSOV delivers exceptional off-road performance.
Abrie du Plessis, CEO of NIMR, emphasized the significance of modernizing their vehicle range to meet evolving operational requirements. The new LRSOV showcases NIMR’s commitment to enhancing national exports and aligns with the UAE leadership’s directives. Following the successful trials of a ‘golden unit’ vehicle, NIMR has signed a contract to deliver 10 LRSOVs to Algeria by the end of 2023. The AJBAN LRSOV, an open-top 4×4 vehicle, is light, powerful, and capable of accessing all terrains, with the added benefit of being helicopter transportable.
The AJBAN LRSOV seats four crew members with an optional fifth seat, offering comprehensive situational awareness and self-defense from a high-mounted heavy machine gun ring and gun mounts at all crew positions. The vehicle can also be optionally fitted with ballistic and blast protection. Its modular configuration allows for multi-mission variants to suit user requirements, and NIMR is prepared to develop bespoke configurations based on base vehicle architecture if needed.
