The absolute joy of meeting you for the first time gives me chills just thinking about it. And I didn’t think I’d ever want to do it аɡаіп, but taking a look at these old images has me thinking about it now. I will be indelibly thankful to her for all the lessons she has already taught me and continues to teach me. I feel so fortunate to have experienced a healing birth. And I also wish this and this vision for everyone who desires it.

So many of us are unaware that we may even choose how we are born. We have become so accustomed to thinking that modern obstetric care is simply how birth is, has always been, and always will be. Makayla chose to have a fully sovereign birth the second time after realizing she had more alternatives than just what the midwives had to offer her after her first birth. Given how Makayla recalls her birth, it appears that she actually had the fully autonomous birthing experience that she had learned about, and her experience serves as a bright example of what birth may be when we just let it happen.
