Defense Innovation Advancement as NP Aerospace Fits Raytheon’s High-Energy Laser Weapon System on the Wolfhound

NP Aerospace’s collaboration with Raytheon UK on the Laser Directed Energy Weapon Land Demonstrator programme represents a significant advancement in defence technology. The integration of Raytheon’s High-Energy Laser Weapon System (HELWS) onto the Wolfhound vehicle is a key milestone in enhancing the UK MOD’s capabilities in short-range air defence.

Raytheon UK’s High Energy Laser Programme Manager, Marcus Kears, emphasizes the importance of laser-directed energy weapons in future defence operations. The successful integration and testing of the HELWS system from the US onto the Wolfhound vehicle mark important progress in bringing transformative technology to the UK.

The Wolfhound, a six-wheeled variant of the Mastiff, offers enhanced protection to troops in high-threat environments. By incorporating the HELWS onto this platform, NP Aerospace and Raytheon UK are equipping the Wolfhound with advanced defensive capabilities against aerial threats, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The upcoming mobility trials and live-fire system acceptance test later this year will further demonstrate the effectiveness and readiness of this innovative defence technology within the UK MOD’s protected mobility fleet.
