One of the people rescued by the dog Rzgar is Mehmet amur , 46 years old. The man was removed from the ground floor of the 8-storey apartment, which was completely destroyed more than 2 days after the earthquake. Recalling the moment he was discovered by the dog, the man could not hide his emotions.
“I cried so much, I wanted someone to hear my voice. The first day someone came in, said ‘we’ll save you’, then left. On the second day, other people came and said the same thing, and then they left again. I was almost desperate. Then I heard a dog barking. I screamed and the dog barked closer and closer. I am so grateful that the dog found me. I was trapped under the table when the huge building was demolished. My parents are still in the rubble but I can’t do anything but cry.”

Engin Ylmaz, K-9 trainer at the Ankara City Fire Department said that the service dogs are a great help for rescue teams. Thanks to them, the rescue work is more convenient.
“The dogs heard voices from within the rubble. They kept coming closer and barking to help us locate the trapped person. Thanks to that, we found two brothers and a lawyer in the rubble. As we approached he said ‘Please get us out of here. If it’s safe, I’ll be free to defend all firefighter cases for the rest of my life.” We then pulled the lawyer and his sister out of that wreckage after 36 hours. These dogs are an important part of the rescue.”
