A frightened stray dog, who has been subjected to abuse, sheds tears that some say sound like those of a human when approached by anyone.
The story of Rain, a German Shepherd who sheds tears whenever someone approaches him for help, has moved countless individuals. It serves as a poignant example of how past abuse can leave a lasting mental impact on an animal, altering its perception of the world in profound ways.
Dogs that have suffered trauma tend to see the world as a bleak and frightening place, devoid of any joy or love. They become terrified of everything around them, losing their trust in males and seeing little hope for a brighter future.

For a few days, a dog had been hiding beneath a van, cowering against the wall to avoid being seen. The poor pup couldn’t stop shaking, probably due to fear and anxiety. Eventually, some concerned locals took notice of the situation and decided to take action. They contacted the animal rights organization “Hope for Paws” for help. Volunteers quickly arrived at the scene to aid the dog, but it wasn’t an easy task.
To approach the dog, the volunteers tried to lure him out with a burger, hoping to catch his attention and gain his trust. Unfortunately, the dog, who was later identified as a German Shepherd named Rain, was too scared to even move. In fact, he began to scream in a heartbreaking manner, as if pleading with them to leave him alone. It was clear that he didn’t trust humans, likely due to a difficult past.
Despite the difficulties, the rescuers didn’t give up on Rain. One of them, Loreta, recognized the dog’s troubled background and knew they needed to take extra care.
The extent of the abuse inflicted upon this poor dog is unimaginable. The rescuers were taken aback by the sounds of distress emanating from the animal, never having heard anything like it before. The dog was in dire need of help, and to make matters worse, it had hidden itself away in an even more inaccessible location under a car. It was clear that the dog was trying to create some distance between itself and its abuser.
Fortunately, the rescue team had a plan. They placed a net on one side while Loreta stood on the other side, trying to get the dog’s attention. After much effort, they were able to finally capture Rain. However, the dog continued to wail and could not stop because of the fear of what might happen next. Rain was clearly expecting the worst.
Rain stopped crying and calmed down after being taken to the vet clinic for a health check. The dog realized that no one wanted to harm it and started to recover from the trauma. With each passing day, the dog was showing improvement.
Rain was able to find a foster family who welcomed him with open arms until he finds his forever home. He goes by the name “Sassy Pants Dunbar” now, a fitting name for his upbeat personality. We’re delighted that this German Shepherd’s story has ended happily, and we hope that it will stay that way for a long time.
